The PRP Survival Guide is a repository of experiences and insights shared by PRP patients and their caregivers. Collectively, the PRP community possesses a wealth of practical knowledge about pityriasis rubra pilaris. We need to harvest that knowledge for those in need of enlightenment.

Share what you have learned about PRP as a patient or caregiver. Share what you have been told by your dermatologist? Share articles you feel might be worth reading or websites worth visiting.

My husband, Julian, was on methotrexate (MTX) for several weeks when he started getting severe aching and shooting pains in his thumb and wrist joints. We spoke to the dermatologist who then sent him for a MRT scan showing the bone was deteriorating. At this point, the dermatologist decided that the methotrexate wasn’t helping enough with the PRP to continue the treatment. Julian stopped having the MTX injections at that point. Having now gone into remission (thankfully), Julian still suffers with the aches and pains in his hands. We are certain the bone will never strengthen so we treat with eucalyptus oil. This does seem to help a little and is natural.
