THE OBJECTIVE OF THE REGISTRY
With a prevalence rate of one in 400,000, pityriasis rubra pilaris is an ultra rare skin disorder. It has been estimated that only 1 out of 20 dermatologists will ever have one of us as a patient. The Registry of PRP-savvy dermatologists will be an online resource for PRP patients and their caregivers a way to identify — with a degree of confidence — LOCAL dermatologists with experience treating PRP.
WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO BE LISTED?
To be listed in the registry, a dermatologist must be registered by a PRP patient or the caregiver of a PRP patient. In other words, the registration of a dermatologist represents YOUR referral to a dermatologist YOU trust.
WHAT IS A PRP-SAVVY DERMATOLOGIST
Every diagnosis of PRP represents a unique journey for both patients and caregivers. When it comes to treatment options, we are mercilessly subjected to the whims of the Red Bastard’s mantra: What works for one doesn’t work for all. Regardless of the variables, we can make certain observations.
❉ A PRP-savvy dermatologist works for you and with you. Your questions are answered and you forge on together.
❉ A PRP-savvy dermatologist recognizes the challenges we face in body, mind, and spirit — and keeps trying to mitigate your pain and suffering.
❉ A PRP-savvy dermatologist has earned enough of your trust and respect to justify a referral to a fellow PRP patient or caregiver.
Simply stated: you will know a PRP-savvy dermatologist when we see one.
WHAT IF YOUR DERMATOLOGIST IS NOT PRP SAVVY?
That’s an easy question to answer. Don’t register your dermatologist.
